About - Jaeriah

Heya, I'm Jaeriah, a Software Engineer currently working in the cloud marketplace space. Coming from a non-traditional career path and having lived in three continents growing up, I believe my diverse background is part of a broader picture in having an insatiable curiosity for understanding people and the world we live in. My previous experiences in various sectors help to identify real-world challenges and my passion for solving them through creative technologies.

Current

In my day to day work, I spend it doing full-stack software implementation using a modern stack in React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Python and cloud computing services with AWS and GCP. Previous to my current role, I was a Front-end Developer and UI Designer where I contributed to the core product, design system and built integrations using Vue.js, React and Next.js. My design stack includes Figma, Sketch and Adobe. Check out some of my projects on my GitHub profile!

For the last couple years, I was involved with Frontend Foxes 🦊 as a Community Leader, contributing to the school curriculum. It was a non-profit international organization aiming to provide diversity in the industry. We ran a bootcamp, online events, meetups, and workshops for people who identify as women to learn front-end technologies. My recent endeavour is joining on as a Google Women in Tech Ambassador where I will be collaborating with a network of women all around the world to make an impact in the technology industry and create a global community where we can all thrive and learn from one another.

Away from pushing pixels at work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with family, doing Muay Thai 🥊, 🚴 biking‍, 💬 engaging with the developer community, 🗺️ traveling to feed my soul, brewing up product ideas and getting lost behind pages on psychology, philosophy, AI, social science and science fiction 📚. I speak three languages 🇨🇦🇸🇬🇮🇹 but realistically, I call myself a try-lingual. I am a huge advocate for cross-cultural understanding, climate awareness, more women/girls in tech, and ethics in AI. I hold firm to the belief that cultivating a growth mindset and embracing new interests and knowledge areas is not only essential for personal growth, but also for humanity's collective progress and understanding.

Coming from a design and entrepreneurial background where she has worked as a couturier, illustrator, graphic designer, and a co-founder of a natural food product company, Jaeriah found herself at an intersection in tech more than 2 years ago where she now applies her passion in building software.

She was a community leader at Front-end Foxes where she contributed to the school curriculum for people who identify as women to learn front-end technologies.
